Quick and dirty info
Nov. 30th, 2021 07:32 pmWho is this guy? This guy is Liao Jiyu. Liao family name, Jiyu given name.
How old is he? 31
Where does he come from? Jiyu is from the distant future where humanity has conquered the stars, but is beset on all sides by horrible space monsters. The only thing standing between us and them is the firepower of the galactic navy and the power of the Soul Sanctum. Soul Sanctum is an organization of super awesome martial artists who have unlocked the power of Soul Arts and as such can do superhuman feats of martial prowess and magic.
Jiyu's home planet was infested and ALMOST taken over by space monsters, but they were fought off by the elite of Soul Sanctum, which sparked in him a burning desire to follow in their footsteps
What's his deal? Jiyu was a registered soul artist of the Soul Sanctum who traveled the galaxy protecting people from evil. When he heard the ridiculous rumor that an AI had figured out how to use Soul Arts, Jiyu went to disprove it himself because EVERYONE knows AIs don't have souls.
Except surprise surprise, Stacia the android DID have soul arts. Jiyu went to tell the rest of Soul Sanctum about this amazing new discovery only to be met with skepticism, cynicism, and plots about how to suppress this knowledge before it became widely known. This got worse and worse until eventually Jiyu decided to join the rapidly growing Machine Soul Movement himself.
What's he like? Serious to a fault, dedicated to protecting others, sees soul arts as a means to an end rather than a goal in and of itself. Disdainful of overt displays of excess of material wealth and hedonism. Not much of a sense of humor. Bisexual but very awkward whenever the subject of sex or romance is brought up. Does appreciate the occasional fine meal with high class drinks.
What cool shit can he do? As a soul artist, Jiyu can pull upon his own soul for amazing feats of power. His signature power is the one that gave him the nickname of "The One Man Army", which creates a hundred clones of himself out of soul energy (not exactly a hundred. He can do less, but the actual maximum fluctuates between 80-110, depending on how focused he is.). The clones only last for three seconds, but the can all act in unison for a burst of overwhelming power. He can also layer to clones over himself to give his strikes a hundred times more force. This power notably has a five second cooldown, so there is a two second gap during which all his clones have vanished and he is vulnerable.
Additionally, Jiyu has a Guandao that is infused with soul energy so that when he swings it the slash extends far beyond the end of the actual blade.
And finally he's like, really good at martial arts. He will punch and kick you so hard, guys. You don't even know.
